An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Functional Family Therapy team at our Mitcham branch.   It is a program to repair and strengthen their relationships between young people and their family, to improve communication and reduce conflict. Our aim is to build a trusting relationship between family and practitioner, increase motivation for change and create a positive family environment.

This program has more than 30 years of research behind it and shows families how to change when they just don't know how. Be a part of that change, the journey and set the family up for success. As a Family Practitioner you will be delivering Functional Family Therapy - Child Welfare (FFT-CW) working with young people aged between 0-17 and their families. Following a well-researched Evidence Informed Model, FFT-CW is a short-term therapeutic technique which emphasises participation by the parents in their home.

Who we are looking for:

  • Bachelor qualifications in Counselling, Social Work, Family Therapy or Psychology
  • Previous experience in a therapeutic environment ideally utilising recognised therapy practices such as CBT
  • Strong communication, open and collaborative with the team
  • Knowledge and experience working within the out of home care sector would be highly regarded
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build relationships and rapport with families and young people
  • You will receive support and mentoring during your training and commencement
